Jagan Reddy Criticizes Amaravati Capital Drama, Proposes 'MAVIGUN' as Alternative

YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu over Amaravati's capital status, terming it a drama masking corruption. Reddy proposed 'MAVIGUN', a corridor encompassing Machilipatnam, Vijayawada, and Guntur as an alternative. He questioned Naidu's leadership and fiscal decisions while defending his 'Three Capitals' policy.

On Wednesday, YSRCP leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy lambasted Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, calling the recent assembly resolution on Amaravati a "drama" meant to obscure "large-scale corruption" in the new capital. Reddy charged that the legislative move was misleading and unnecessary.

During a press briefing at the YSRCP central office, Reddy stressed that Indian states, unlike the nation, do not require a capital. He cited examples of other states like Jharkhand and Uttarakhand to argue the redundancy of such resolutions. The Andhra Pradesh High Court also stated the decision lies with the state government.

Reddy backed his former 'Three Capitals' plan, maintaining that Amaravati retained its legislative status. Proposing 'MAVIGUN' as a cost-effective alternative, he criticized Naidu for overlooking it. The ruling TDP dismissed 'MAVIGUN', labeling Reddy's stances as inconsistent. Reddy iterated that MAVIGUN could function as a practical growth engine with minimal expenses.
