The Congress party expressed strong disapproval on Thursday concerning the government's move to notify the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam', passed in September 2023.
The notification, issued by the Law Ministry, appoints April 16, 2026, as the commencement date for the provisions of the Act. This announcement comes amid active debates on its amendments, set for a parliamentary vote tomorrow.
Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary for communications, took to social media to describe the move as 'absolutely bizarre' and expressing confusion over its timing relative to the ongoing legislative discussions.
