Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh has called on the central government to separate women's rights from census-related complexities, demanding immediate action on the Women's Reservation Bill. Speaking to reporters, Singh criticized the interplay of census and delimitation as structural obstacles to empowering women in India.

The minister accused the current NDA framework of political obfuscation, claiming it postpones the enactment of the Women's Reservation Bill until at least another decade. Singh emphasized the significance of the Congress's role in past constitutional amendments aimed at enhancing women's political equity, contrasting it with the present government's approach.

He argued that increasing Lok Sabha seats to over 800 would fundamentally change India's demographic balance, particularly affecting the North-South divide. Despite legislative setbacks, with the bill failing to secure a two-thirds majority in the recent Lok Sabha vote, Singh remains resolute in advocating for reforms to be in place by the 2029 general election.
