On Sunday, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP-led NDA of lacking the mandate to govern, citing its failure to pass a critical Constitution amendment bill in the Lok Sabha regarding women's quota law.

Yadav argued that the bill's failure reflects the government's inability to represent the people's will, emphasizing that the opposition truly embodies public sentiment. At a party meeting, he also insisted that women's reservation discussions remain pending until the completion of the 16th Census.

Highlighting the flaws in the women's reservation framework, Yadav criticized reliance on outdated census data. He contended that using 2011 figures would compromise reservation policy integrity, prompting a call for fresh demographic data before deliberation. Yadav concluded, voicing concerns on BJP's divisive strategies and women's empowerment.
