The incident occurred after Kumar attended a birthday party and was allegedly followed by a confrontation with Neeraj, a purported Delhi Police head constable.

The altercation reportedly escalated when Neeraj, accused of being under the influence, began abusing Kumar and his friends based on their regional origin. It is claimed that Neeraj fired his weapon at close range, resulting in Kumar's death and injuries to his friend, Krishan.
