In a bold heist, unidentified miscreants reportedly looted a jewellery shop near 8th Mile in Havanur, making off with approximately 70 kg of silver articles valued in crores, local police reported on Friday.

The break-in, occurring on April 28, involved the thieves entering through a hole drilled in the wall after breaking the lock at the shop's rear. Discovery of the theft was made around 7 am when shop employees opened for business and noticed the breach.

While CCTV inside the shop was inoperative, police are currently utilizing footage from nearby cameras. Additionally, an adjacent shop's Digital Video Recorder was allegedly removed by the suspects. Authorities are investigating the methods used, believing a skilled gang with prior layout knowledge orchestrated the crime. The Bagalagunte Police Station has registered a case, with ongoing efforts to track down the culprits.
