A tragic boat accident at Bargi Dam in Madhya Pradesh has claimed the lives of 11 people, with two more still missing. The accident occurred when a state-operated boat capsized during a storm, prompting allegations from survivors of safety lapses, including the delayed distribution of life jackets.
The deceased include two young boys, Viraj Soni and Tamil, whose bodies were recovered on Saturday. Tamil's father and nephew remain unaccounted for as rescue efforts intensify. A substantial rescue operation, involving over 200 rescuers and 20 divers, resumed at 5 a.m. on Saturday, although it faced interruptions due to strong winds.
The state government has launched a probe into the tragedy, dismissing three crew members and halting similar boat operations. Authorities emphasize the ongoing search for the missing and plan to register a formal complaint soon.
