Manoj Kumar, a former pradhan of Alam Chand village in Kaushambi, was critically injured on Monday when bike-borne attackers opened fire during his morning walk, police reported.
The incident occurred near his home in the Sandipan Ghat area, leaving Kumar with serious injuries. He was promptly transported to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj, where his condition remains critical.
Authorities have formed three investigation teams, though Kumar's family has yet to file an official complaint. Kumar, who served as village head from 2010 to 2015, was respected in his community, noted SP Saty Narayan Prajapat.
