Territorial Tensions: Nepal Stands Firm on Lipulekh

Nepal has renewed its territorial claims over the Lipulekh region, advocating for dialogue with India despite New Delhi's firm rejection of Kathmandu's stance. This dispute arises amidst the preparations for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, highlighting the ongoing tensions between these neighboring countries in their claims over the strategic area.

Nepal has reignited its territorial claims over the Lipulekh Pass, calling for dialogue with India to settle the dispute. This comes as New Delhi rejects Nepal's claims, dubbing them an 'unilateral enlargement' and 'untenable'.

The contention arose after the Nepalese Foreign Ministry objected to preparations by India and China for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Lipulekh Pass. This pilgrimage holds deep religious significance for Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists.

Reacting sharply, India dismissed Nepal's stance, maintaining that the territory does not belong to Kathmandu. Nepal stresses the need for collaboration and diplomatic discussions to resolve the issue, with the matter formally communicated to India via a letter from Nepal's Foreign Ministry.
