Ludhiana has taken a decisive step towards upgrading its law enforcement capabilities by implementing the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS), making it the third city in Punjab to adopt this technology. The system, launched by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, involves 1,700 high-resolution cameras strategically placed at 259 locations across the city, fortifying its surveillance infrastructure.

The ITMS, active at 46 locations in Ludhiana, is equipped to detect nine different types of traffic violations, ranging from red light infractions to overspeeding. Highlighting the initiative, DGP Yadav stated that the upgraded Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) is a pivotal move towards preventive policing, cutting PCR response times by more than half.

During his visit, DGP Yadav held meetings with field officers, focusing on efficient, citizen-oriented resolution of public issues. The event also celebrated police camaraderie, with the DGP joining personnel for a communal meal and recognizing high-performing officers to encourage better service delivery.
