In a major push to position India as a global hub for deep-tech innovation, the Ministry of Education, Government of India, hosted a high-profile roadshow in Paris to promote Bharat Innovates 2026—a flagship international initiative aimed at connecting India's cutting-edge start-ups and academic research ecosystem with global investors and industry leaders.

The roadshow, held ahead of the main event scheduled from June 14–16, 2026, in Nice, France, marks a key milestone in India's outreach strategy to attract international collaboration, investment, and technology partnerships.

Building Bridges Under India–France Strategic Partnership

The Paris event brought together over 50 stakeholders from the French and global innovation ecosystem, including representatives from government, academia, venture capital, and industry networks. Prominent participants included La French Tech, VivaTech, and leading academic institutions such as ESCP Business School, ESSEC, INRIA, and École Normale Supérieure, alongside members of the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and development agencies.

Officials from the Ministry of Education, the Embassy of India in Paris, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) engaged directly with participants, underscoring the initiative's role in deepening ties under the India-France Special Strategic Partnership.

Addressing the gathering, Joint Secretary Shri K. M. Praphullachandra Sharma highlighted that Bharat Innovates 2026 is a critical platform to strengthen international collaboration and unlock cross-border innovation synergies.

India's Innovation Ecosystem Takes Center Stage

During the roadshow, Shri Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education, presented the vision and structure of Bharat Innovates 2026, positioning it as a gateway for global investors to tap into India's rapidly expanding innovation landscape.

India's start-up ecosystem—now the third-largest globally—is increasingly driven by deep-tech research emerging from universities and research institutions. Bharat Innovates aims to accelerate this transition from "lab to market" and "India to the world."

Focus on 13 Frontier Technology Sectors

A key highlight of the roadshow was the emphasis on 13 high-impact technology sectors, including:

  • Advanced Computing

  • Semiconductors

  • Next-Generation Communications

  • Advanced Materials & Critical Minerals

  • Biotechnology

  • Space and Defence

  • Manufacturing & Industry 4.0

These sectors are aligned with global innovation priorities and represent areas where India is rapidly building capabilities through policy support, research funding, and start-up ecosystems.

Investor-Centric Model to Drive High-Value Engagement

Bharat Innovates 2026 is designed as an investor-first platform, offering:

  • Curated one-on-one matchmaking sessions

  • Sector-specific investment discussions

  • Start-up showcases and pitch opportunities

This structured format aims to enable efficient, high-value engagement between innovators, investors, academia, and industry stakeholders.

The Paris roadshow also featured an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to explore potential collaborations in research, investment, technology transfer, and market access.

Strong Global Interest Ahead of Nice Summit

The strong turnout of investors, corporate leaders, academic institutions, and innovation platforms at the Paris event signals growing global interest in India's innovation ecosystem.

The roadshow served as a critical step in mobilising international participation ahead of the main event in Nice, which is expected to attract global attention as a premier innovation summit.

A Global Accelerator for Indian Innovation

Announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17, 2026, during the inauguration of the India-France Year of Innovation in the presence of the French President, Bharat Innovates 2026 is envisioned as a global accelerator for India's higher education innovation ecosystem.

The event will be held at the Palais des Expositions, Nice, and aims to showcase India's ability to transform academic research into scalable, market-ready solutions with global impact.

Positioning India as a Global Innovation Leader

With initiatives like Bharat Innovates, India is actively positioning itself at the forefront of global innovation by leveraging its strong academic base, vibrant start-up ecosystem, and growing investor interest.

The Paris roadshow has set the stage for what could become a landmark international platform—bringing together technology, talent, and capital to shape the future of global innovation.
