Karnataka Partners with ISEG to Transform Bengaluru into a Global Hub
The Karnataka government has signed an agreement with the Institute for Sustainable Employment and Growth (ISEG) to create an Economic Master Plan for Bengaluru, aiming to elevate the city to a world-class hub. The plan will address employment, tourism, housing, and traffic issues while seeking public and sector input.

The Karnataka government took a significant step on Tuesday by signing a Statement of Intent with the Institute for Sustainable Employment and Growth (ISEG). The initiative aims to develop a comprehensive Economic Master Plan for Bengaluru, transforming it into a world-class urban hub.
Present at the signing event held at Vidhana Soudha was Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who also oversees Bengaluru Development. Shivakumar elaborated on the government's three-year efforts to bolster Bengaluru's economic framework. 'We aim to transform Bengaluru into a global city, having already provided unprecedented economic support to the region,' he noted, highlighting the city’s impressive per capita income and significant software export contributions.
The proposed plan, which spans the period from 2032 to 2037, will tackle key urban challenges like traffic congestion, and guide future developments in employment zones, tourism, and housing. Shivakumar emphasized that the blueprint, estimated at Rs 2 lakh crore, will be implemented without imposing financial burdens, drawing insights from stakeholders across various sectors.
