Delhi Tops Union Territories in Senior Citizen Crime: NCRB Report 2024
The National Crime Records Bureau report reveals that Delhi recorded the highest number of crimes against senior citizens among Union territories in 2024, with 1,267 cases. Despite a minor decrease from 2023, the overall national figures showed a 16.9% increase in senior citizen crimes. Madhya Pradesh led among states.

The latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report has thrown a revealing light on the crime landscape concerning senior citizens in India. The findings, published this Wednesday, place Delhi at the forefront among Union territories for crimes against this vulnerable demographic.
According to the report, an alarming 1,267 cases were registered against senior citizens in 2024 in Delhi. This stands in contrast to 1,361 cases in 2023, indicating a modest decline. However, on a broader scale, the country saw a significant rise, jumping by 16.9%, with 32,602 cases reported in 2024 compared to 27,886 the previous year.
Delhi's rate of 110 cases per lakh population is notably high among the Union territories. Among Indian states, Madhya Pradesh emerged as the leader in this unfortunate category, recording 5,875 cases. Theft, forgery, and murder were the most common offenses reported against senior citizens nationwide.
