Cybercrime Dynamics: A Decline in Delhi, a Rise in Bengaluru

The national cybercrime rate increased from 6.2 to 7.3, with fraud constituting 72.6% of cases. Ghaziabad reports more cases than Delhi despite its smaller population.

According to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, Delhi experienced a significant decrease in cybercrime, with registered cases falling from 685 in 2022 to 404 in 2024.
Bengaluru, on the other hand, reported an alarming 17,561 cases in 2024, leading metropolitan cities in cybercrime incidents.
Nationally, cybercrime increased by 17.9% with fraud as the predominant motive, while cities like Ghaziabad outpaced others such as Delhi in case numbers.
