Three persons, including two kids, succumbed to burn injuries after their house-cum-shop caught fire in Bihar's East Champaran district, officials said on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday night at a general store in Barharwa Fateh Mohammed village, which falls within Kundwa Chainpur police station area of the district. The deceased have been identified as the shopkeeper's eight-year-old son, 12-year-old daughter, and the store's staffer Prince Kumar (28). Confirming the deaths, SHO Rahul Kumar said, ''The shopkeeper's residence was located above the store where the fire broke out at night. Villagers suspect that a short circuit may have caused the blaze, but the exact reason will be known only after the investigation is completed.'' Upon receiving information, police and fire brigade personnel went to the spot and brought the fire under control after around six hours, he said. The bodies have been sent to Motihari Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination, Kumar added.
