UP: Teen girl drowns in Etawah canal while bathing with friends

A 15-year-old girl drowned while three others were rescued after they got into difficulty while bathing in the Bhognipur canal near a village in the Lavedi area of the district, officials said on Saturday. Police launched a search operation and, with the help of divers, recovered Upasanas body from the canal on Saturday morning, the SHO said.

A 15-year-old girl drowned while three others were rescued after they got into difficulty while bathing in the Bhognipur canal near a village in the Lavedi area of the district, officials said on Saturday. Lavedi SHO Anil Kumar said the incident took place on Friday evening when four girls from Dharampura village entered the canal for bathing. He said villagers managed to rescue three of the girls, while one of them, identified as Upasana, 15, went missing in the water. Police launched a search operation and, with the help of divers, recovered Upasana's body from the canal on Saturday morning, the SHO said. The body has been sent for a post-mortem, police said.
