Bangladeshi National Sentenced for Passport Fraud and Illegal Land Registration

A Bangladeshi man named Abdul Amin was sentenced to three years in prison for forgery, after he was found guilty of traveling with a fake Indian passport and illegally registering land in Ballia, India. He also received a fine of Rs 10,000.

In a significant ruling, a court in Ballia has sentenced Abdul Amin, a Bangladeshi citizen, to three years in prison for identity fraud and illegal land registration in India.

Special Judge Ramkripal found Amin guilty of traveling on a forged Indian passport and imposed a Rs 10,000 fine. Amin, originally from the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar, was charged following a complaint by the ATS Varanasi unit.

The charges stem from Amin's unlawful acquisition of Indian documents, used to register land in West Bengal, and travel to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. The case falls under sections of the IPC and the Foreigners Act.
