An FIR has been registered against 11 individuals after an attempted attack on Karnataka Assembly Speaker U T Khader during a protest in Dakshina Kannada district, officials reported on Wednesday.
The incident transpired on May 7, near Mangaluru, when Khader's convoy was intercepted by demonstrators demanding a dialogue over civic concerns, a move allegedly spurred by remarks made by Khader at a public event.
Following a complaint from the Speaker's gunman, FIR registrations were executed under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for unlawful assembly and obstructing a public servant, as police continue efforts to apprehend those involved.
