The complaint arose from Gandhi's statement in Bulgadhi village in December 2024, where he allegedly said, 'the accused are roaming free, while the victim's family is locked inside the house.' This statement was deemed defamatory by representatives of the acquitted men, who filed a complaint seeking redressal.

Judge Deepak Nath Saraswati highlighted the need for caution before setting criminal law in motion, stating that there was no sufficient ground to summon Gandhi as an accused. The court's decision emphasized the importance of judicial discretion in such matters.
