A 65-year-old man in Kaij tehsil of Maharashtra's Beed district has been charged with allegedly attempting to sexually assault a three-and-a-half-year-old girl, according to local police.

The accused, identified as Shahu Dunghav, allegedly executed the crime while the victim's mother was working in the fields, and her father was bedridden due to illness. The child was reportedly playing outside her house with her brother when the accused lured the boy away with money.

Upon the brother’s return and finding his sister missing, he alerted their father, which led to the discovery of the locked door. Breaking in, the father found his daughter and the accused in a compromising position. Police have acted promptly, charging Dunghav under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, with an ongoing investigation.
