Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has taken decisive action against Saubhagya Singh, chairman of the MP Text Book Corporation, for organizing a massive celebratory rally. The rally, involving 200 vehicles, flew in the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent calls for austerity.
Following the rally, Singh has been blocked from entering his office and stripped of official powers and privileges until he responds satisfactorily to the show-cause notice. The administration deemed the rally unnecessary, unrepresentative of government policies on simplicity, and counterproductive in the current economic climate.
This incident follows Modi's appeal to conserve resources amid West Asia's unfolding crisis, highlighting alternative measures such as reducing fuel consumption and using public transport. In a related move, Bhind BJP Kisan Morcha president Sajjan Singh Yadav was also removed for organizing a similar rally.
