A couple were arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly defrauding their visually impaired friend by misappropriating gold ornaments and cash stored at their residence, police announced.
The victim reported the crime after discovering the absence of valuables. During police interrogation, the couple admitted to using the items due to financial difficulties.
Though they claimed the gold was pledged and cash spent, authorities managed to recover part of the gold from a third party, quantifying its worth at around Rs 35 lakh.
