A legal case has been initiated against Mamata Banerjee, following accusations of making statements that allegedly offended religious sentiments. This move comes after an FIR was lodged, based on a lawyer's complaint, at the Siliguri Cyber Crime Police Station.

The complaint, filed by advocate Rinki Chattopadhyay Singh, suggests that Banerjee's comments made at a religious event and a protest could have deeply hurt the feelings of 'millions of Sanatani Hindus.' Singh alleges that the remarks were not only provocative and unconstitutional but also unexpected from someone in a constitutional position.

The police have charged Banerjee under several sections, including those related to criminal intimidation and defamation. A senior officer from the Siliguri Police Commissionerate has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to assess the allegations and legal standing of the claims made.
