Government Considers Expanding BSF's Role to Protect Borders More Effectively

During a visit to Kutch district in Gujarat, Shah informed BSF personnel about the nearly 70% completion of security efforts in critical areas like Harami Nala and Sir Creek. He highlighted a new 'territorial security' paradigm, marking BSF's 60th year. Investments in advanced tech and infrastructure for the Smart Border Security project seek to make the border safeguards impregnable. Shah emphasized collaboration with the public and other agencies in strengthening India's border defense.

The government is also pushing forward with initiatives on the West Bengal border with Bangladesh to prevent infiltration, acknowledging a strong security grid is vital. Technical solutions, including technological fencing, are being implemented to address the challenges posed by natural terrains.
