European defence is a pillar within NATO- France's Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that European defense was not an alternative to NATO but a pillar within the alliance.

Macron was speaking after NATO leaders met near London at a summit aiming to tackle disagreements over NATO spending, future threats including China, and Turkey's role in the alliance.
