A 36-year-old proclaimed offender was arrested after 14 years for allegedly robbing after stabbing a businessman in 2005, police said Friday. The accused, identified as Om Prakash, is a resident of Arrah district in Bihar, they added.

On February 1, 2005, four persons had robbed a city-based trader of his mobile phone and Rs 6,200 cash. The victim had also been stabbed with a knife. He was running an iron scrap business in Wazirpur Industrial Area in Delhi. On January 15, police received information on Prakash and he was arrested from Arrah district in Bihar, a senior official said.

The other three accused had already been arrested in 2005, police said. PTI NIT

One arrested for stealing vehicles New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) Patrolling staff of Raftar Bike Friday arrested one person for allegedly stealing cars from west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area, police said.

The accused, identified as Rajkumar, is a resident of Karawal Nagar. He was previously involved in 28 cases, including murder, robbery, drugs, vehicle theft, they added. On Friday morning, a constable patrolling the Madipur area noticed a car moving at a slow speed. Three persons were sitting in the vehicle. The constable chased the car and apprehended the driver, as the two others managed to flee the spot, a senior police officer said, adding five cars were recovered from his possession. PTI NIT

26 arrested for gambling

New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) Twenty-six persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in gambling activities in north west Delhi's Mahendra Park area, police said Friday. The main accused, identified as Nitish Yadav, was arrested after police received a tip-off about Yadav's involvement in a gambling racket in the Ramgarh area, they added.

On seeing the police, some persons tried to escape, however a total of 26 persons were arrested, a senior police officer said. Cash worth Rs 14,540, 15 mobile phones and six gambling note pads were seized from them, police said. PTI AMP

Police address concerns of foreign nationals

New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) Delhi police have held a meeting with foreign nationals residing in the national capital and addressed their concerns, officials said Friday. Issues pertaining to visa extension, penalties and overstaying were raised by the foreigners during the meeting on Thursday, they said.

The attendees were told about the special helpline number of the Delhi police for foreign nationals in case of emergency, officials added. PTI AMP

Taxi driver arrested for smuggling liquor New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) A 23-year-old taxi driver has been arrested for allegedly smuggling liquor into the national capital region from Haryana, police said Friday.

The accused, identified as Pankaj, is a resident of Faridabad, they added. At around 11.30 pm on Thursday, police arrested the accused on Agra Canal Road, based on a tip-off, officials said, adding 27 cartons containing 1,296 nibs of liquor and one car was recovered.
