Goa to have solid waste management policy soon: CM

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Tuesday said the state government will formulate a Solid Waste Management Policy which will oversee collection, segregation and treatment of waste. He was speaking to reporters after emerging from a meeting of the Goa Solid Waste Management Corporation.

"We will be the first state to treat all kind of waste including e-waste, bio medical waste and hazardous waste. The policy will decide where it will be treated," Sawant said. "Currently, Goa has a treatment plant at Saligao (North Goa) while others are expected to come up at Cacora, Verna (both in South Goa) and Bainguinim (North Goa)," he said.
