The group of parliamentary women in Angola requested on December 11 to the justice organs to take harsh measures against all kind of domestic violence against women and amend the current law as quick as possible.

According to the MP, Maria do Carmo, the Angolan society has witnessed in the last days, abhorrent crimes, in which several women were murdered by their husbands or partner betrayed by the love they dedicated to them.

Maria do Carmo, who was addressing the third plenary meeting of the National Assembly, underscored that such crimes occurred inside the families, which is the core of the society, thus demanding redoubled social protection.

Statistic data from 2017 report that Luanda alone recorded 5.270 complaints of which 4.070 were against women namely physical abuse, murder and rape.
