A fire broke out in a hotel in Gwinnett County in Atlanta during the night, officials said.

Firefighters responded around 9:05 pm to a report of a fire at the Knights Inn Hotel in the 5100 block of Brook Hollow Parkway in Norcross, Gwinnett fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said, AJC reported.

“Crews arrived to find heavy flames showing from two units of a single-story hotel building. Occupants were already in the process of evacuation when fire trucks arrived and no injuries were reported,” Tommy Rutledge said.

The fire caused heavy damage to two units including moderate damage to a third unit, he said. “The blaze appears to have started in a unit that was not occupied and was not being rented at the time. The fire is believed to be electrical in nature and originated from a floor mounted HVAC system,” he added.

More details awaited.
