Top MVA leaders meet after Kasba Peth victory

Leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra held a meeting on Thursday night following its victory in the Kasba Peth Assembly bypoll.

The meeting was attended by Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, state Congress chief Nana Patole, senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat and Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi among others, sources said.

The dinner meeting had been convened by state NCP chief Jayant Patil.

Floor strategy in the ongoing budget session of the state legislature was also discussed at the meeting, sources said.

Buoyed by Congress candidate Ravindra Dhangekar's victory in Kasba Peth, a BJP bastion for nearly three decades, MVA leaders felt that they can trounce the saffron party in the future too with unity and the right choice of candidates, a leader said.
