Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed confidence that voters have turned out in record numbers to re-elect the NDA government. He criticized the 'opportunistic INDI Alliance,' claiming they did not resonate with the electorate due to their 'regressive politics.'
As the polling concluded for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Modi pointed to his government's record and the qualitative changes it has brought to the lives of the poor and marginalized.
'India has voted!' Modi declared, thanking those who participated in the elections. He specifically noted the significant turnout of Nari Shakti (woman power) and Yuva Shakti (youth power), calling it an encouraging sign for the democratic spirit of the nation.
Modi confidently asserted that people have voted in record numbers to re-elect the NDA government, acknowledging the work done by his administration in uplifting the marginalized sections of society.
He highlighted how reforms have propelled India into becoming the world's fifth-largest economy. Modi claimed that government schemes have reached intended beneficiaries without bias or leakage.
Modi criticized the opposition's 'opportunistic' coalition, describing them as 'casteist, communal, and corrupt,' and said they failed to strike a chord with voters. He accused the alliance of lacking a futuristic vision and merely focusing on 'Modi bashing,' which he termed as regressive politics rejected by the people.
Modi also praised NDA workers for their dedication in explaining the government's development agenda and encouraging people to vote, emphasizing their role as the NDA's greatest strength.
The final phase of polling covered seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, with results expected on June 4.
