The ruling BJP of Assam on Saturday interpreted exit poll results as an endorsement of public confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These projections show the BJP-led alliance achieving a comfortable tally.

In contrast, opposition parties including Congress and AIUDF contend that the final results will diverge from those suggested by the exit polls.

Most exit polls estimate the BJP and its allies securing between nine and 12 seats, Congress between zero and two, and others, including AIUDF, between zero and one seat.

The outgoing Lok Sabha sees nine BJP MPs, three from Congress, and one each from AIUDF and an Independent.

''The exit polls align with our party’s predictions and the chief minister’s forecast. It signifies public trust in Modi ji and their desire for his third term as Prime Minister,'' stated BJP spokesperson Dewan Dhruba Jyoti Maral.

Maral asserted that the actual vote count on June 4 would confirm these results, anticipating a double-digit tally for the BJP and its allies.

The BJP nominated candidates for 11 seats, allotting two to Asom Gana Parishad and one to UPPL.

Congress leader Debabrata Saikia emphasized that exit polls should not be overly relied upon, noting their historical inaccuracies.

''The genuine results will be revealed in three days,'' he remarked.

Congress contested in 13 seats, with ally Assam Jatiya Parishad fielding one candidate.

AIUDF general secretary Aminul Islam expressed confidence in winning at least one seat, despite exit polls predicting none for the party. ''We will surely retain Dhubri. BJP and its allies' numbers will decrease,'' he asserted.

The state saw a turnout of 81.56 percent in the three-phase polling for its 14 Lok Sabha seats.
