The marathon polling process to elect the 18th Lok Sabha concluded on Saturday, marking an approximate voter turnout of 62% amid incidents of violence between TMC and BJP supporters in West Bengal’s Sandeshkhali region.

Polling was held in seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh for 57 constituencies, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Varanasi seat in Uttar Pradesh.

With counting set for June 4, exit polls predict a comfortable majority for the BJP-led NDA seeking a third consecutive term. Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc remains hopeful of a surprise victory.
