BJP Clinches Majority in Arunachal Pradesh for Third Consecutive Term

The BJP has claimed power in Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term by winning 37 seats in the 60-member assembly. Counting is still ongoing. Chief Minister Pema Khandu was among those who won unopposed. The NPP secured three seats, while the Congress is leading in one seat.

The BJP has secured its position in Arunachal Pradesh for the third consecutive term, claiming victory in 37 out of the 60 available assembly seats, according to Election Commission officials.

Vote counting is still underway for 50 seats in the state assembly elections, which were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls on April 19. The BJP had already won 10 seats uncontested.

Among those who secured their seats unopposed is incumbent Chief Minister Pema Khandu. The BJP had previously won 41 seats in the 2019 elections.

Other political parties saw varying degrees of success: the National People’s Party (NPP) won three seats and is leading in another three, while the People’s Party of Arunachal and the NCP have won two and one seats, respectively. The Congress and an Independent candidate are each leading in one seat.
