BJP Demands Repolling in Diamond Harbour Amid Alleged Voting Malpractices

In a dramatic turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for repolling at several booths in West Bengal's Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha seat, following allegations of voting malpractices. According to a letter sent to the state's chief electoral officer on June 1, BJP leader Shishir Bajoria claimed that the party's booth agents were forcibly removed from their posts, and CCTV cameras were found to be facing away from the polling cubicles.

The BJP's request, made on behalf of their candidate Abhijit Das (Bobby), demands repolling in several key assembly segments including Budge Budge, Falta, Maheshtala, Diamond Harbour, Bishnupur, Satgachia, and Metiabruz. The allegations have cast a shadow over the reelection bid of sitting TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee.

Despite the controversy, voter turnout was robust, with a recorded 73.79 percent in the nine Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal that participated in the final phase of the polls on Saturday.
