Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Monday asserted that the opposition INDI alliance will unveil its prime ministerial candidate within 24 hours after the declaration of the Lok Sabha election results.
The counting of votes from the seven-phase elections, concluded on June 1, will commence at 8am on Tuesday. Raut highlighted that while the INDI alliance has multiple PM candidates, the BJP's options remain unclear.
Raut openly slammed the Election Commission for allegedly neglecting opposition complaints about electoral malpractices and violations of the model code of conduct. He also questioned the silence of the EC and PM Modi's meditative retreat. Regarding claims from Congress leader Jairam Ramesh that Union Home Minister Amit Shah contacted several district collectors ahead of the vote counting, Raut emphasized the gravity of the allegations and the need for maintaining constitutional integrity. Amid predictions of another BJP-led NDA victory, Raut sarcastically remarked that the BJP should not rush to celebrate as the real celebration would be the ruling party's defeat.
