The Union cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has officially recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha, according to sources. The recommendation, made on Tuesday at Modi's residence, comes after the BJP-led NDA secured a majority in the general elections.
The cabinet meeting addressed the election results and potential government formation. Following the meeting, Modi is expected to make a formal recommendation to President Droupadi Murmu. “The Union cabinet has recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha,” a top source told PTI.
This marks the final meeting of Modi 2.0's cabinet and council of ministers. The current 17th Lok Sabha's term is set to end on June 16. The BJP secured 240 seats, with the NDA achieving a clear majority in the 543-member house, while the Congress party won 99 seats.
