The Congress has forcefully re-established its dominance in Haryana's politically crucial Deswali belt, reclaiming it from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the latter's sweep in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
In the recent 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress secured victories in both Rohtak and Sonipat parliamentary constituencies, besides three additional seats across the state. The BJP had previously won all 10 seats in Haryana in 2019, toppling several entrenched political strongholds.
Key wins for Congress included Deepender Singh Hooda's resounding victory over BJP's Arvind Sharma in Rohtak by a margin of 3,45,298 votes, and Satpal Brahamchari's defeat of BJP's Mohan Lal Badoli in Sonipat. Reacting to the success, Deepender Singh Hooda hailed it as a triumph of democracy, asserting that voters acted to preserve the Constitution.
