Kerala Legislative Assembly's 28-Day Budget-Centric Session Unveiled

The 11th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly will run from June 10 to July 25 to discuss and pass the budget for the financial year 2024-25. The session includes discussions, government and non-official business, and the introduction of new bills.

The 11th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly is set to commence on June 10, wrapping up on July 25, according to a statement made by Speaker A N Shamseer on Saturday.

Over the 28 days, the session aims to meticulously discuss and pass the budget requests for the 2024-25 financial year. The budget, initially presented on February 5, 2024, has already undergone scrutiny by the subject committees, Shamseer noted.

Dedicated days have been reserved for various activities: 13 days from June 11 to July 8 will focus on money requests, five days are for non-official business, and eight are for government business. Additionally, Kerala Appropriation bills and the first batch of supplementary demands for grants will be addressed

On the opening day, proceedings will be briefly adjourned post the morning's question and answer session to capture a group photo of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly members. Notably, the Kerala Panchayat Raj (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Kerala Municipality (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024, will be introduced for committee consideration.

The session also features the fourth Lok Kerala Sabha, scheduled for June 13-15 at the Sankaranarayanan Thampi Members' Lounge.
