Opposition Boycotts Modi's Swearing-In Ceremony

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will attend Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister, despite the absence of other opposition leaders. Notably, TMC's Mamata Banerjee and other key opposition figures have openly declined their invitations, questioning the moral legitimacy of Modi's government.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge is set to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister on Sunday evening, according to sources close to him.

Both Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi were invited to the ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Despite Kharge's attendance, notable opposition leaders, including Left figures Sitaram Yechury and D Raja, have confirmed they will not attend. TMC leader Sagarika Ghosh also publicly declined the invitation on social media.

In a post on X, Ghosh articulated her stance, expressing that the opposition does not recognize the moral legitimacy of Modi's swearing-in. Similarly, West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC head Mamata Banerjee announced at a party meeting that the NDA government would not last long, indicating a unified opposition boycott.
