Modi Unveils Development Projects and Promises Restored Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced preparations for assembly elections and the eventual restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir. During his visit, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for numerous developmental projects and emphasized efforts to ensure lasting peace and progress in the region.

In a major announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that preparations are underway for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that the Union territory will soon see its statehood restored. The statement came during Modi's first visit to the valley since securing his third term as Prime Minister.

Highlighting developmental strides, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 84 projects, cumulatively worth Rs 1,500 crore, in Srinagar. He praised the substantial voter turnout in the recent Lok Sabha elections and underscored that the fruits of the Indian Constitution have begun to reach Jammu and Kashmir post-scrapping Article 370 in August 2019.

Amidst stern warnings to those perpetrating terror attacks, Modi reassured that these threats are taken seriously and will be met with a befitting response. He further emphasized the Centre's commitment to ensuring peace and progress in the region, citing enhanced accountability of funds and burgeoning development initiatives.
