Modi Pledges Unity and Strikes at Congress Over Emergency

Speaking just moments before the start of the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha, Modi proclaimed that the electoral victory of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was a testament to the public’s approval of his government’s policies and commitments.

With the Congress and other opposition parties ready to challenge his government on numerous issues, including the selection of the pro-tem Speaker, Modi emphasized that the citizens desire substance and diligent debate in Parliament, not drama and pandemonium.
