Jairam Thakur Slams Himachal Pradesh Speaker, Alleges Puppet Behavior

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur criticized Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, accusing him of acting as a 'puppet' of the Chief Minister. Thakur alleged the Speaker is unfairly targeting BJP MLAs and highlighted issues such as deteriorating law and order and political favoritism under the Congress government.

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, accusing him of acting like a 'puppet' of the Chief Minister.

In a press conference, Thakur argued that the Speaker lacked the authority to disqualify nine BJP MLAs for merely 'raising slogans against the government'.

Thakur was responding to questions regarding the notices issued to the nine BJP legislators in March. During the budget session, some BJP members were accused of disrespecting the Chair and tearing papers in the House, prompting the Speaker to issue notices.

Thakur accused Pathania of rule violations and claimed that the Speaker had been promised a certain post in return. He also criticized the Congress government, stating that it is solely focused on retaining power and that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s governance was lacking.

He highlighted that despite promises, the Chief Minister's wife was given a ticket to contest the upcoming assembly bypoll, suggesting that such a decision couldn't happen without Sukhu's approval. Thakur further accused the Congress government of internal threats, deteriorating law and order, and alleged protection of the drug trade by Congress leaders.
