Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced his Council of Ministers in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, drawing applause and desk-thumping from members.

The introduction came a day after Modi introduced his ministers in the Lok Sabha following the election of the speaker.

Among those present in the House were Leader of the House J P Nadda, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.

The Rajya Sabha convened for its 264th session, which opened with an address from President Droupadi Murmu to a joint sitting of Parliament. The President’s address was subsequently tabled in the Rajya Sabha, and the House is set to pass a Motion of Thanks after a discussion.
