Himachal Opposition Leader Accuses Government of Rampant Corruption

Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur alleged widespread corruption in the Himachal Pradesh government. He claimed key rules were overlooked in a Rs 7 crore tender and pointed to another land sale scandal. Thakur also criticized Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for victimizing BJP leaders.

In a fervent press conference, Jai Ram Thakur, Leader of Opposition, leveled serious accusations of rampant corruption against the Himachal Pradesh government on Wednesday. Thakur claimed that the Congress administration is poised to set a record for scams, citing reports that procedural rules were flagrantly ignored in the Rs 7 crore tender of the Marketing Board. Key officers and the Managing Director were notably absent during the tender's approval, Thakur asserted.

Moreover, Thakur alleged another scandal involving the sale of land worth Rs 2 lakh to Himachal Roads Transport Corporation (HRTC) for an inflated sum of Rs 2 crore. He further accused Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu of victimizing BJP leaders and their families. These explosive allegations come at a critical time, as the by-elections for three assembly seats, including Dehra, are scheduled for July 10.

Thakur was campaigning for BJP candidate Hoshiyar Singh in the Dehra assembly seat, while also highlighting the developmental work worth Rs 600 crore completed during BJP's rule in the same segment. The by-elections became necessary after independent legislators who previously supported the BJP in the February Rajya Sabha polls resigned from Vidhan Sabha and joined the BJP.
