Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelinskiy returned to the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, aiming to secure future support amid potential funding jeopardy if Trump wins reelection. While in Washington for the NATO summit, Zelinskiy met with Senate and House leaders, including defense, spending, and national security committee members.

In meetings, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner stressed the mission's significance, underscoring the deep uncertainties surrounding the U.S. presidential election between incumbent Joe Biden and former President Trump. Zelinskiy presented the Order of Merit of Ukraine to Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and had lunch with bipartisan senators.

Meeting Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, Zelinskiy extended an invitation to Kyiv. Johnson cited tight schedules before the November election, which holds significant stakes for Republicans. Zelinskiy’s plea was clear: U.S. aid must not wane while awaiting election results. The visit illustrates America’s political divides on continuing support for Ukraine.
