Ukraine on Thursday urged NATO to lift restrictions on the use of long-range weapons against targets in Russia, stating it would be a 'game-changer' in its war with Moscow. China slammed NATO's criticism of its support for Russia as biased and malicious.
NATO members issued a declaration in support of Ukraine during a summit in Washington on Wednesday, promising additional aid and pledging their commitment to Ukraine's 'irreversible path' to NATO membership. They will have a session with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on Thursday afternoon.
The U.S. and allies used the summit to project unity against perceived threats from Russia and China, with Biden reaffirming the defense of NATO territory. China, meanwhile, labeled NATO's statements as provocative and warmongering.
