Historic Victory: Congress Wins Dehra Assembly Seat
The Congress won the Dehra Assembly seat for the first time on Saturday, with Kamlesh Thakur, the wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, defeating BJP candidate Hoshiyar Singh by 9,399 votes. Thakur polled 32,737 votes, while Singh secured 23,338 votes. The turnout was 65.42 percent.

The Congress has secured its first victory in the Dehra Assembly seat with Kamlesh Thakur, the spouse of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, triumphing over BJP's Hoshiyar Singh by a significant margin of 9,399 votes.
Thakur garnered 32,737 votes in the bypoll compared to Singh's 23,338 votes. Notably, the three Independent candidates failed to reach even 200 votes each.
Out of the 86,520 registered voters in this assembly segment, a substantial 65.42 percent exercised their franchise on July 10. The Dehra constituency was created post a delimitation exercise in 2012, with Ravi Inder Singh of BJP initially taking the seat. Hoshiyar Singh had later won it as an Independent in 2017 and 2022.
