Trump's Immediate Peace Broker Plans for Russia-Ukraine War, Says Orban
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated in a letter to EU leaders that former U.S. President Donald Trump is prepared to act as a peace broker in the Russia-Ukraine war if elected. Orban visited multiple capitals on a peace mission and criticized current U.S. and EU policies.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has declared that U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is prepared to act 'immediately' as a peace broker in the Russia-Ukraine war, should he win the November elections. Orban conveyed this in a letter addressed to European Council President Charles Michel, which was subsequently shared with all EU leaders.
The letter followed Orban’s meetings with Trump and the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, and China. Orban asserted that Trump has detailed and well-founded plans for peace and would not wait for his inauguration to act. 'Shortly after his election victory, he will be ready to act as a peace broker immediately,' Orban wrote.
Nationalist leader Orban undertook surprise visits to several capitals over the past two weeks on a self-styled 'peace mission' following Hungary’s assumption of the EU’s rotating presidency. Orban criticized current U.S. President Joe Biden's pro-war policy and suggested a Trump victory would shift the financial burden of Ukraine’s support to Europeans. He proposed reopening diplomatic communication lines with Russia and engaging with China on future peace talks.
