Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Friday criticized the current government for neglecting farmers and their issues, particularly onion and sugarcane prices.
Addressing a rally in Ahmednagar, Pawar also urged the populace to gear up for state elections likely in October, commending voters for their turnout in the Lok Sabha elections.
Pointing out grievances, Pawar mentioned an incident during the Lok Sabha poll campaign where a farmer's plea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fair tomato prices was ignored, emphasizing that the government is not focusing on farmers' needs.
Pawar further stated that sugarcane growers are suffering because they can't export surplus sugar, reinforcing his claim that those in power are apathetic towards farming.
He concluded by expressing pride in Maharashtra voters for securing 30 out of 48 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and urging unity for the upcoming state polls to ensure a government that protects the interests of farmers, youth, and women.
